MAI Construction Supports The Canary Challenge!
MAI Construction is proud to announce that we have donated $5,000 to this year’s Canary Challenge, benefiting the Canary Foundation’s mission to support research and investigative methodologies in early cancer detection and treatment.
It is nearly impossible to find someone whose life has not been touched by cancer, whether it was a friend, family member or themselves. According to the National Institutes for Health, cancer rates in the United States have dropped by 25% since 1990, or about 1.8% per year. Increased awareness of the possible causes of cancer and reduction in rates of behaviors such as smoking, combined with advances in screening, detection and treatment have almost certainly contributed to this reduction. However, 38.4% of all Americans will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime, and out of these, roughly one-third will die as a direct result of cancer.
The Canary Foundation works to support cutting-edge, low-cost cancer screening and treatment methods which can be deployed worldwide. In their own words:
“We are building a cancer-detection platform that promises to be the answer to next- generation cancer care worldwide. By reorienting research toward early detection, we believe great advances in cancer research will finally take place, and save untold lives and resources while improving quality of life worldwide.”
The Canary Challenge is the Canary Foundation’s flagship fundraising initiative. Sponsors support individual cyclists or whole teams to ride in specially designated events for various skill levels, raising awareness and money for the Canary Foundation’s very important purpose in a spirit of fun, friendly competition. The participants get to enjoy food, fun, camaraderie, the pleasure of hitting the open road on their bicycles with friends and family and the joy of knowing they’re helping to fight back against a global health crisis.
MAI Construction is proud to support the Canary Challenge and a number of other equally important initiatives like it throughout the year. It’s our way of giving back and contributing to the well-being of our community, our neighbors and our world. We hope you’ll join us in supporting the Canary Challenge if you can, and help make cancer a thing of the past!
